Hey folks, the summer was so-so to fantastic depending on who you asked. So-so bassing for me. I spent a handful of weekends fishing out east as well, and landed some monstrous bass there and other interesting catches.
Night plugging was weak for me, we had some good early morning trips, and late summer we have had some nice blitzes and big blues moving in. The big story now is the albies ! I haven’t seen the this thick ever in 10 years running a boat here . For weeks I have been saying ‘the bait is here, when will the predators move In?’ And let’s just say; they’re here. Albies, bass, blues, all blitzing from deep mid sound waters to the shallows and right in the harbor. It’s been a dry summer and a hot July, mild August. But now we’re getting Rain and it’s cooking down with the forecast dipping to high 40s Friday night.
Now more importantly, this is the 5th year of the Tightlined Slam. If you don’t know, it’s a local tournament that raises money for conservation of these fish we so adore. To put it simply; it’s a lot of fun, it’s for a great cause, and it provides some camaraderie with fellow fisherman. Whether you join the tournament or the after party, I recommend taking a look.
