The spring season has been really good, no two ways about it. Things kicked off with a mild winter and equally as temperate water. We had a strong April bite in the shallows. Then, the bite at the reefs kicked off as bunker filtered In. We have been treated to sunrise Topwater blitzes sprinkled in with fish feeding lower in the water column. The flutter spoon boon has been benefiting a lot of anglers, as well as the ‘old school’, lesser known, parachute jigs. As of late, the bunker schools have been seen on the surface off the reefs in open water; filter feeding or escaping predators from below. Live baits, topwater poppers/spook type lures, as well as sub- surface swim shads have Been producing bass and blues for me. It all depends what mood the fish are in on a given day. Bunker are also making their way from the mid-sound, to the islands and shorelines, bringing the ‘big fish bite’ closer to home port. The islands and inshore bite is still going pretty well if that’s your cup of tea too. We have a June new moon approaching, and water temps are holding in the 60-67 degree range. The bite should hold out for the month of June . Don’t hesitate to Contact me for a charter. Norwalkislandsfishing@gmail.com
